META-TOO was proud to participate in the 7th Summit on Gender Equality in Computing (GEC25), held on June 5–6, 2025, at the University of Piraeus in Greece. The event was part of the ACM-W Celebration of Women in Computing, bringing together researchers, professionals, and students to advance discussions on gender equality in technology and computing.
As part of the programme, Mairy Diamanti presented our poster titled:
“Exploring Gender-Based Harassment in the Metaverse Through VR Embodiment: An Early-Stage Study.”
Developed within the META-TOO project and funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe programme, the study investigates how virtual embodiment in immersive VR can influence perceptions of gender-based harassment. By allowing participants to experience scenarios from the victim’s perspective, the approach aims to foster empathy, raise awareness, and promote positive behavioral change—both in virtual environments and real-world workplaces.
We extend our sincere thanks to the event organizers from the School of Information and Communication Technologies, the Departments of Informatics and Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus, and ACM-W for creating a welcoming and impactful space for discussion and collaboration.
